About BRP Rotax and the Max Challenge
BRP Rotax began their involvement in karting back in the 1980’s when they produced a limited number of high performance 100cc engines for racing purposes. At times Rotax was the dominant force in international karting, for example in the 1988 CIK Karting World Championships 9 out of the top 10 positions went to drivers on Rotax engines.

In 1997 Rotax launched the “Max” Engines, and in 1999 they launched their own International racing series – the Rotax Max Challenge – which is raced in countries all over the world and culminates in a Grand Final race into which the top drivers from national and regional Max Challenge are invited to take part to determine the overall Max Challenge Champions.

The Rotax Max engines and the Rotax Max Challenge have changed the face of the Karting World. It is the most popular karting engine in the world. The Rotax Grand Finals is held towards the end of the year pitting champions from different national and regional Rotax Challenges against eachother to determine the Rotax World Champion. Close to 300 drivers from over 50 countries take part in the racing action at the Finals!
