Pearlites showcase design brilliance at PORTFOLIO 15
Spread over 3 days and more than 40,000 sq. ft., Portfolio 2015 showcased design brilliance of graduating students of Pearl Academy at NSIC Exhibition Ground Okhla. Portfolio’15 was the culmination of several years of hard work of students from various undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Pearl Academy. Presence of India’s most celebrated costume designer, Manish Malhotra as Guest of Honour inspired Pearlites to achieve greater heights in their fields of interest. Manish Malhotra has also associated with the Academy as Mentor to the School of Fashion, Styling and Textiles.
Portfolio’15 was also the platform where new Undergraduate courses in Jewellery Design and Product Design for the Noida campus of Pearl Academy were launched by designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra along with Subhash Bhola, Director, Bhola Sons Jewellery. Renowned fashion designers JJ Valaya and Rina Dhaka marked their presence as Chief Guests in one of the ramp shows on day 3. Eminent guests from creative industries such as Anjan Chakravorty, Design Head, Times of India; Ankur Singh Chauhan, Head & Director-CII (Delhi State); Rinki Singhania, Head-Visual Merchandising, LVMH (Watches & Jewellery); Madhu and Neeraj Manchanda from NM Architects, et al. were present at various activities during the three days of Portfolio’15 at NSIC.
Grandeur of the exhibition displayed over 500 creations by artistic and innovative apprentices of Pearl Academy during all three days. Exhibition was visited by more than 7000 students, parents, industry et al. and wowed each one of them.
Day one started with over 1500 school students from all over Delhi NCR attending Design Immersion workshops. Day two was buzzing with fashion shows, panel discussion and the special guest of the day – Manish Malhotra who attended the gala show. Day three was the day of awards ceremony and fashion shows again.
Manish Malhotra was impressed by the ground-breaking creativity of many student projects and said, “The capabilities & artistic caliber of these young students have truly impressed me today. Pearl Academy has done a commendable job in mentoring these kids. The industry demands a constant struggle and it could be safely said that these students have that hunger in them to fight their way forward.”

Graduating students from various courses such as Communication Design, Textile Design, Interior Architecture & Design, Retail & Business, Fashion Design and Photography among others showcased their final projects on this coveted platform. Innovative and out-of-the-box ideas were at display in the form of installations, projects, presentations, movies, photographs, explorations, ensemble, et al wowing the visitors. Moreover, mesmerizing ramps shows presented by Pearlites were attended by the industry leaders, aspiring designers, students and their parents.
Additionally, the event venue was given a thought-provoking makeover to reflect upon Pearl Academy’s commitment towards instilling creativity. This season of Portfolio proved to be more than thrilling and a rejuvenating roller-coaster ride.
The event ended on a high note with awards distribution ceremony for the outstanding work presented by Pearlites followed by two breath-taking fashion shows which would surely keep the audience enchanted for many a days to come.
