About Exhibition: This first solo exhibition by artist Swati Gupta in India presents some of her recent mix media paintings and installations, in which she redefines Nature Morte/still life. It’s a mis-en-scene of daily use objects put together in an atypical situation. Various objects like fitness machine, coca can, letter box, local dustbin, french bread etc from different societies are redefined and freed from their real use which isolates the object and create a meditative quality about it. She has used ‘flat’ monochromes as metaphors which lets the viewer to experience and examine reality in a 2-dimentional way and see daily-life in a new way, making ordinary as extra-ordinary. Her artwork is an amalgam of the classical form of Nature Morte and elements of Pop Art which creates a beautiful blend of eastern and western art.
